What are you thinking ?

Good question. Why would I suddenly change course and move from Civil/Structural Engineering to Nanotechnology. And what's with the medical stuff ? Well, it all started with an idea. If we can have smart bombs then why not smart drugs ? Rather than attacking the whole body to get at a few diseased cells why not target medicine to those cells and leave the healthy ones alone.
The universe in our own bodies is as vast and mysterious as the one in the sky and our journey into this inner world is really only beginning. The technological leap required to reach for the stars could well be dwarfed by the one we are about to make inwards and the consequences will be as profound. This may seem fanciful and yet so, within living memory, was walking on the moon. We know it can be done because mother nature has been there for millions of years building and operating at the nanometre size.
So, the idea is to make "machines" small enough to find and attack the bad cells and leave the good ones. It is where engineering, science and medicine meet and this is why I'm stepping from one to the other. In retrospect it wasn't too far - something like a nanometre
